Patient Information

Validated Patient Questionnaires

Our practice measures outcomes by what are termed validated patient questionnaires.  On the day of  your consultation you will be asked to fill out certain questionnaires.  These may include an AUA/IPSS Urinary Symptom Index and an Erectile Function Questionnaire.  Both can be accessed by clicking the hypertext links below.

AUA Urinary Symptom Score

SHIM Sexual Health Inventory for Men

Some patients choose to print out and complete the questionnaires at home and bring them to the office at the time of their visit.

Tell me more about validated patient questionnaires....

Patients may tire of filling out questionnaires.  They may feel that they just want to speak with the doctor instead of filling out paperwork.  Well run clinical studies have shown, however, that descriptive information told to your doctor is not particularly reproducible and is not in a form that can be compared to other patients.  Clinical trials in the 1990's and the first decade of the 21'st century clearly demonstrated that all patients need to be given the same validated instrument in order to successfuly compare results between patients.  Validated questionaires allow us to assess the severity of your condition, are how we evaluate the result you achieve from surgery, and also allow us to compare our results with those of other clinical investigators.

Post-operative Instructions

Post-operative instruction sheets for some of our commonly performed surgical procedures are available on this web site.  We provide these in written form to each patient at the time their surgical procedure is scheduled.  Nevertheless, many patients find web access of these documents to be helpful.  Please carefully read the appropriate post-operative instruction sheet before your surgical date. The documents may be accessed by clicking on the hypertext links below or the link in the right column.
